JanI live north of Boston, very close to the New Hampshire border off Route 95, and work for Kaboose's sister sites, Babyzone.com and Parentzone.com. In a nutshell, I work with our group of talented guides who contribute parent resources and maintain a family-friendly calendar for local sites throughout the U.S. and Canada. Here's my brief "zone" bio to tell you a little bit about myself:
My Boston connection: I was born in Bean Town, and have lived in Massachusetts all my life. Boston is a fabulous city offering everything you can imagine: from the finest hospitals, museums, theaters, lively night-life and fabulous restaurants, to beautiful beaches and quiet reservations where you can hike and connect with nature.
My family: My husband, Tom, and I have one son, Jeffrey, who is a student at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst majoring in English. We have three other bundles of joy at home - Frosty, an American Eskimo ball of white fur; Dunkin, our little Teacup Poodle; and feisty Felix, our cat.
My fun fact: I had a brief television appearance on Good Morning America on a spiritual segment about the meaning of “grace,” and I spent some time working behind the scenes of various shows, such as the Oprah Show.
My life before baby: I’m a graduate of Endicott College, and worked for many years as a paralegal working in real estate and labor and employment law.
My life in the BabyZone: When my son Jeff was growing up, although I always worked (to keep my foot in the door), I was fortunate enough to schedule my work day around Jeff’s school day so that I could be home with him. Working part time was a good balance for all of us!
My hobbies and passions: You’ll always find my head in a good book! When my creative juices are flowing, you might find me tailoring clothes, upholstering an old chair, or stitching up new draperies. Sewing is great, but I have more fun decoupaging boxes, plates or creating what have you. My secret passion is my fondness for buying and selling on eBay. I enjoy eBay so much, that I “graduated” from eBay University’s program when they came to Boston a couple of years ago. To say I love to shop is an understatement... I love finding a great bargain and get a charge by shopping victoriously!
My best parenting tip: You are your child's greatest role model. Teach your kids right from wrong by walking your talk. Actions speak louder than words . . . be the best role model by always treating others with kindness and respect!
