Hello to all,

I am looking for suggestions for a fund raiser for my church, we are in need of a face-lift for the playground at our church, something a little different than the normal bake sale, car wash or yard sale. Looking to raise about $1000 to get some new equip, just a small playground. Does anyone have some ideas?

We always just put it in our church bulletin that we are trying to raise money for what ever reason, and if anyone would like to contribute to put the money in an envelope and mark it especially for "Playground Eqip" It is tax deduct. so it seems like your membership would like to see God work and give them the deduction as well. What about having the kids make banks to take home for the extra change lying around the house, or they could do little jobs to earn mony to put in their banks. Then on an appointed Sunday They can bring in their banks and turn them in in Sunday School, then the money could be counted and the amount announced during worship service.

What about an auction? Members can donate household things and auction them off along with serving food and drink. All outside of course, sort of a festival thing, could have crafts and bakesale at same time.

An auction is a great idea. You can also get donations from local stores/restaurants for the auction too.  It usually only takes a phone call for those things. There is also an easy fundraising program that requires very little time/effort at http://www.very.lovablelabels.ca/FundRaising.aspx Also found www.fundraising.com has a lot of ideas just to get ahead on some brainstorming.

I think that having an auction would be an awesome idea for you too.  One of my best friend's children's private school does an auction every February and they make a ton of money.  Like in the $31,000 range.  I think  they are very successful because of the planning.  Go out and talk to some of your local merchants and see if they would be willing to donate some items.  Also talk to your local resturants.  Its worth a shot. All they can do is tell you no.  Good luck!

One of the churches I used to go to when I was younger did pancake breakfast....I am catholic so the Knights of Columbus used to donate supplies and their time to make the pancakes and the high schoolers would volunteer for set up, clean up and serving.  It used to bring in about $1000 a month.

If you have an auction, you can get your teen involved by having them help clean a house, a yard, heavy work, whatever comes to mind.  Many teens are more than willing to do something to help the church and it gives them a self worth.  I raised money in the thousands by writing and calling everyone I could think of it other states. We got things from football teams and big corporations. We had a meal at the auction and charged a minimal amount (kids could be free). We contacted pop companies, candy companies and set up sales at kids athletic games. If it is nice, you can just use a table and a few coolers. Contact fritos and chip companies. I got a ton of stuff from the local grocery stores, hardware stores, clothing stores etc.  I hope this helps or at least gives you more ideas.
