But there was no school for kindergarten kids! I knew I would be confused! (See pleasemama's post "When is your spring break?") I dropped him off and then drove away. I went to the lab to pick up my daughter's pee bag (See post "Help! I think my 2 1/2 year old has a Urinary track infection."), went to meet my friend at IKEA, she told me my husband had called her before she left her house and said that he was on his way to the school,by train and bus, to pick him up. I called him and told him I'd meet him there. We did, my son was fine, but boy, do I feel silly. I guess my son kept the secretary's quite entertained for the hour he waited. Glad my son is so easy going, my next son would have been crying, he's the middle child. Anyone else ever done this?
Yah, okay, so I DROVE him to school, wow, we really do talk different in our close neighboring countries. Most people I know drop off their kids. It's a given we drive them and don't drop them out of helicopters or planes. :)
I think she meant she took them, and realized it before they got out of the car that there was no school, so she did not leave them. That is how I took, not as a correction in grammar, or speaking styles. Just my opinion though.
~I child proofed my house, but they STILL get in~
That makes sense. But, you never know with pleasemama, she is a funny lady and I thought she was making a joke. Sorry if I misunderstood, it was not meant to be a slam against pleasemama or anyone else, I was going along with the assumed joke.
Im sure that if i drove my daughter to school I would have done the same thing considering I have had her take her backpack to daycare even on the days there isnt any school. I remembered today finally but most wensdays (Because our kindergarteners only have class every other wendesday, its a district wide half day so they go everyday except everyother wednesday) i have her get her backpack and off we go. then about half way through the day I think "hey wait she doesnt have school this wednesday, well at least if she did shed be ready" LOL
I haven't done it "yet"..."yet" I have my daughter in a private christian school so every week we get an e-mail and a letter in her bookbag every monday..But I did start freaking out I found a note hiding in the front saying that she needed to have 3 boiled eggs for monday...(this was monday morning) and here I was boiling eggs at 8:00 am ...my daughter says what are you doing, I told her. She looked at me strange and then she tells me it is for NEXT week!! Grrrrr lol
mommyofchrisnkiara, that's funny! Well, at least you were early! Good job! ;)
I did it but the school was in session it was just the wrong day they went MWF and half day Tuesday so when thurday came I just got ready dropped him off the teacher standing outside waved at me I left and them I heard my cell ring and it was the school reminding me he was off....
speaking of boiling eggs ( i know this is not what this post is about just commenting on the egg thing) mine came home with an egg decorated the other day- thank goodness i checked her bag or it would have been in there a few days as school is now out for break! yuck!!!
This thread reminds me of something I did this past fall. I usually drop my kids off at school around 7:30 (their school starts at 7:45); and during the fall I had a morning class that started at 9am, and the univeristy is about 45 minutes away--not really enough time to go back home after dropping the kids off for school. So usually I would drop them off and then get on the interstate and get a quick bite to eat at the univerisity before class.....Well one day I guess I just had a lot on my mind because I took the kids to school, pulled into the drop off line, and did the whole "stop and go" till I got through the drop off line....then started on my way to the interstate. I was about half way to the interstate when my daughter, still in the back seat says "Mommy, aren't we going to school today?" !!! I went though the drop off line, but never stopped long enough for them to get out! LOL. If she had not said anything I probably would have taken them to college with me.
I haven't dropped them off but i have drove them there before. Thankfully our school puts signs out when there is no school. So i am thinking its pretty common to get confused ;)
