Lice guide! health.kaboose.com/kids-health/lice.html

Have you cleaned your house, washed her bedding and washed her clothes? If you don't destroy the eggs, they will keep coming back!

A part of that guide helps you know how to clean your house after you've treated your child.

I hope that helps :)

We had that problem many years ago when my oldest were in grade school.  It turned out that there was a lice infestation in one of the bean bag chairs my kids sat in daily (at school).  If you think the lice is happening when the kids are at home, perhaps you can think about the things they play with/sit in the most to determine if any physical item may be harboring those pesky lice.  However, if other kids are experiencing the re-infestations, it might be something at the school/after-school care location(s).

At the time we had lice, I was advised to take all of our stuffed animals and tightly bag them up and store in the garage for a period of time.  Also, I'm sure you've discovered, the process of getting the lice out of the hair is very tedious.

Best of luck with this!!

Don't forget to treat the car seats!!!

One trick i learned is that if you have a black light the nits and bugs will glow under it! It really helps to find the suckers!

Good luck!

Grandma remedy- girls, put leave in conditioner or the like and put hair in braids. boys, put leave in conditioner or the like. It's hard for lice to stick, so when hair is washed they get washed out too.

Bless your heart, I too have battled the dreadful lice & nit battle myself with my 2 oldest girls a few years back. It's a tedious chore getting rid of them thats for sure, but something that MUST be done!!  Everything I have read above concerning removing the toys stuffed animals & bagging them for a period of time, all the cleaning of the bedding &  house etc.is all very true & MUST be done!! But also don't forget any hats, hair ties, brushes etc. The tricky litttle suckers can get anywhere it seems.  I did hear of a trick ( the conditioning treatment above triggered my brain) a year or so ago,  I haven't tried it myself ...but I thought I'd pass it along for future reference to maybe help KEEP AWAY the LICE!!  I read it in a magazine article. It claimed that if you put a small anount of a hair product ( mousse, gel, sculpting wax etc. ) that it would keep the lice away. Like I said Haven't tried it myself. Good Luck!!

Tea Tree shampoo is supposed to help. Also, my SIL kept the lice away from her stepdaughter with garlic. All you have to do is cook with it. It gets into their system and the lice HATE it.

I've never had an issue with lice, but we homeschool, so we're not around it. My bf doesn't have any issues but she also is a garlic lover and cooks with it all the time.

BTW, when niece would go back to her mother's, the lice would come back, because she doesn't cook with garlic.

Good Luck!

they make a produce that you can buy at walmart that loosen the nits, is alot easier to comb them out with it.  you can use SeaBreeze too but it doesn't work as well and one of my girl broke out when I used Seabreeze . It has to be leaft on about 20 mins to work. then comb while in the tub. The Lice were bad in a small town we lived in during school and gone in the summer. The went away after the whole school was sprayed including the buses. We thought maybe the bus seats had them.

You need to wash EVERYTHING in your house.  When we had custody of my niece, it was an ongoing problem because of her visitations with her mom.  We had to take all our of comforters to the laundry mat, wash all the clothes your child has worn in HOT water.  Wash all the brushes, combs, hair clips, and rubber bands in HOT water.  Get some of the spray and spray your furniture, her mattress, carpets, anything you can stick in the washer that is cloth.  Treat her hair and then 7 days later treat it again.  If her hair is long enough put in in a braid and spray it with hair spray.  I'm sure there is more, but I'm drawing a blank.  It's a pain.
