The stores are full of Christmas already and our neighbors have had their Halloween decorations up since mid-September. What happened to plain seasonal living?
Is September too early for Christmas for anyone else? When do you put up your Halloween decorations?
I plan on carving pumpkins the week of the 22nd.
The house I grew up in was known for our Halloween display. However, we didn't usually put them up until the day of or the day before Halloween. They usually came down the next day.
As for Christmas. My mother always liked to wait to put up the tree, but the lights would go up the first weekend in December and everything would get taken down on Old Chrismas Day (January 6th)
My MIL likes to put up her Christmas decorations at the beginning of November. I distinctly remember putting up her tree on Halloween one year. Her decorations say up until April!
I dont even like seeing Christmas at the stores right now..... ugh by Thanksgiving for Christmas although I wouldnt want to see my neighbors house lit up for it before Dec. Halloween should be short & sweet. christmas we start in begininng Dec (my hubby likes to have our tree up and decorated by the 12 for a special reason) And I used to like to take the tree down on Jan 6th (old Christmas) but we get a real one now and I cant wait to get it out of my house! New years day is a good day to do that!
Fall decorations can be out in September, but if they scream Halloween, I'd wait until October
We dont have halloween though some bars make a night of it and decorate for that night.
We decorate for christmas on the 23rd of december and take the down on the 13 th day of chritmas (the 6th of jan) We celebrate christmas on the 24 th of december starting at 6pm on the dot. However we have a Advent wreath with 4 candles on it that are lit the 4 sundays before christmas first 1 then 2, then 3 and lastly all 4. And I do put put some simple candle decorations in december.
We usually decorate for fall at the end of September and then go directly into the Halloween decorations around the end of the first week of Oct. If we carve a pumpkin, we always wait until the week of Halloween but we do have the pumpkin sitting out beforehand.
It drives me crazy that the Christmas decorations come out in September. Right now, the stores are moving out the Halloween/Fall stuff to make way for tons of Christmas stuff. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE to decorate for Christmas but being inundated with holiday stuff for 4 months tends to wear on me a bit.
We usually decorate for Christmas right after Thanksgiving.
At my house we put Christmas decorations up the day after Thanksgiving and take them down New Years day.
Well in my house we carve the pumkin on halloween but put our halloween stuf about a week before that! and i know what you mean abou the christmas stuff i am soo tempted to buy things already ! i usually put my Christmas decorations up about 2or 3 weeks before
Halloween decorating usually the first part of October in my house (the little that I do). At this point, all of my decorations are in a box in my garage so I will probably get a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch next week and call it good! We're lucky if we get them carved at all, if we do it's usually Halloween or the day before. Christmas, we usually wait to decorate until the weekend after Thanksgiving. Any earlier than that, and it gets old.
We usually carve our pumkin the week before Halloween. As for Christmas, we put our decorations up December 1st and take them down January 1st. That way we can enjoy the decorations, instead of putting them up and taking them right down right away.
