My cheerleaders grades 5-8 are starting a big sister progam for the kindergarten girls at the school. What kids of crafts can I plan for craft day that would be fun for both sets of girls. The older girls each a one kindergarten girl that they will work with throughout the year.

Have you checked out Pack O Fun magazine? They offer all sorts of craft projects, ranging in levels of difficulty from super easy to more complex. I should know - they purchased one of my crafts for publication in their November issue!

Have you found anything you like in the Craft section on Kaboose?

Something that my mother and I did when I was a kid was make popcicle stick jewelrey boxes. I used a piece of fabric on the base to cover up the sticks and a bead on the lid so I could take it off. Then you can let the kids decorate them how they like!

That's a great suggestion Lolly :) Kaboose does have the instructions and photos for such a jewelry box and they are very easy to make, a perfect craft for the Kindergarten set :)

What a fun and special idea!

I know this sounds pretty basic, but how about beading?
The girls can bead matching necklaces or bracelets containing a special charm.
The little girls will likely cherish this creation as the "big sister" has one too. The issue will be to make a necklace that the older girls will wear. Although pony beads are easier for little fingers, they are  too young for the big girls.
With help, the little girls can use the smaller beads, just not the teeny-tiny seed beads. Combine the beads with stretchy beading cord and fun charms and should be able to avoid using any needles.

Or, how about a decorated picture frame that contains a photo of both girls.
You can make one with popsicle sticks or purchae the plain cardboard frames.
then decorate with glitter glue, feathers, pom-poms etc.

Have fun!
